Is your Malwarebytes antivirus program not working properly? Here are the top-most effective methods that will help you troubleshoot the problem thoroughly. 


Method 1: Restore Malwarebytes to Default


  • For the first step, you need to go to Malwarebytes and go to Settings.

  • Head to the General tab, scroll to the bottom, and select Restore Default Settings.

  • When that’s done, click on the Windows start button and click on the power icon on the bottom right side.

  • Then, click on the Restart option. 

  • After that, you should wait for the system to turn back on, then verify if the issue is resolved.


Method 2: Download & Run Malwarebytes Chameleon


  • Go to the official Malwarebytes Chameleon page and download the tool.

  • Then, launch the downloaded file, select the file, and click Extract To.

  • After that, choose the file destination and click OK.

  • Next, head to the extracted file, open the Chameleon folder, and open the Windows folder.

  • Now, you should right-click on the iexplore and select Run as Administrator.

  • When you see the User Account Control Window, click on the Yes option. 

  • Once you are in the new window, press any key to continue to download and install Malwarebytes.

  • Now, the application will automatically begin installation, which may take a few minutes.

  • Select Yes in the Confirm pop-up window to restart the system.

  • When the system restarts, you should run Malwarebytes as an administrator and see if it works.
